2022 MANRRS Gold Conference Scholarship

Given the lack of resources available for underrepresented collegiate students, the MANRRS Gold Scholarship Program will identify high-performing collegiate students and provide a funding stipend valued at $1,000 to travel and participate in the Annual National Conference, March 24-27, 2022 in Jacksonville, FL. Selected students will be leaders in their local chapters or participate in one of the MANRRS student competitions.

The requested support will provide travel resources to help MANRRS students attend the 2022 National conference. Students will be recognized during the event for participating in the program and the scholarship that was awarded.

Eligibility: Open to MANRRS members. High school students or collegiate (UG & GR) students seeking funding.

Award Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on academic record,  community activities, and a typed essay describing how can you contribute to the MANRRS36 theme of "Broadening Horizons and Changing the Narrative."

National Farmers Union
National Farmers Union

Deadline: April 1, 2022

National Farmers Union (NFU) and MANRRS signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) summarizing the ways in which our organizations will collaborate to provide educational and leadership opportunities for young people of all racial and ethnic identities, partner on federal policy priorities, and extend each other’s reach within agricultural communities. NFU and MANRRS see a great benefit in working together to enhance the agricultural experience for young adults in the industry. Both parties have an interest in preparing students for successful careers in agriculture, food, fiber, and national resources systems. Working together will provide more opportunities for young adults interested in the agricultural industry.

Eligibility: Open to MANRRs members and their children. High school seniors, college students or nontraditional students seeking funding to attend a two or four-year accredited college or university or technical school for any area of study.

Award Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on academic records, social and community activities and typed essay describing personal and professional goals, and involvement with MANRRS.

Farm Credit
Farm Credit VIP Scholarship

The National Society of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) and Farm Credit are proud to present the Farm Credit VIP Scholarship Program.

Scholarship recipients will receive VIP Farm Credit merch, the opportunity to participate in the Farm Credit VIP Track of the National MANRRS Conference, a travel scholarship to the conference and a $1,000 academic scholarship. The scholarship will be applied to the recipient’s college tuition, room and board.

The Farm Credit VIP Track will provide scholarship recipients with meaningful interactions with Farm Credit leadership and expose students to information about careers at Farm Credit in fields including finance, credit, capital markets, informational technology, marketing, etc. Students will benefit from leadership development and training to better prepare them to find a career in the agriculture industry.

National Farmers Union
Stanley Moore National Scholarships

Deadline: April 1, 2022

Eligibility: Open to Farmers Union members and their children. High school seniors, college students or nontraditional students seeking funding to attend a two or four-year accredited college or university or technical school for any area of study.

Typed essay on the topic: How you plan to advocate for rural communities in your future endeavors? Possible phone interview with finalists.

Award Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on academic records, social and community activities and typed essay describing personal and professional goals, and involvement with Farmers Union.

Amount: Several $1,500 scholarships will be awarded with money to be used for tuition and books.

National Farmers Union
Hubert K. and JoAnn Seymour Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2022

Hubert K. Seymour was a leader in Farmers Union throughout his life at both the state and national levels. He served the Illinois Farmers Union as secretary/treasurer for eight years and vice president for 12 years before he resigned in 1990. At the national level, he served and participated in a variety of ways. Seymour traveled each year to the National Farmers Union Convention to hear the premier agricultural speakers, voice his concerns, and offer solutions to the challenges family farmers faced.

Seymour was actively involved in the politics of agriculture and dedicated to the fight for parity. In addition to the leadership provided within Farmers Union, Seymour served on numerous agricultural advisory boards within the state of Illinois and on an advisory committee under former President Jimmy Carter's Administration. Throughout his service as a leader, he did much to promote and protect the rights of family farmers throughout the United States.

Hubert K. Seymour, married to JoAnn, farmed full-time until he became ill and died in 1994 at the age of 72. He is remembered with great affection and this scholarship is the family's way of paying a living tribute to their parents’ dedication, hard work, and commitment to Farmers Union and the family farmer.

Eligibility: Open to all graduating high school seniors who are continuing their education in either a two-year or four-year accredited college or university for any area of study. Must be a Farmers Union member.

Award Criteria: Academic record of student. Social and community activities.

Typed essay on the topic: How you plan to advocate for rural communities in your future endeavors? Possible phone interview with finalists.

Amount: One or two scholarships will be awarded ranging from $1000 to $2000 total with the money to be used for tuition and books.

Cargill Thrive Scholarship
Cargill Thrive Scholarship

The Cargill Thrive Scholarship provides students with financial support and additional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities throughout the year, including a trip to Cargill’s Headquarters in Minneapolis, MN for a 2-day development and networking event in the Spring/Summer* 

 
Eligibility Requirements:

Scholarships are a one-time, one-year award to be distributed to 20 students up to $1,500 each, which is inclusive of support to attend the National Conference at $1000 plus a $500 award upon completion of the scholarship program.

John Deere Scholarship for College Students

John Deere will award one $1,150 scholarship per region to students who have excelled in academics, extracurricular activities, MANRRS, and community involvements.

National Grain & Feed Foundation Scholarship
National Grain & Feed Foundation Scholarship

Amount: $5,000

The National Grain and Feed Foundation looks forward to supporting MANRRS student members by providing three $5,000 competitive scholarships, each of which are renewable for one additional year, as well as the opportunity to meet with hundreds of agribusiness leaders at the National Grain and Feed Association’s annual convention.

The Jr. MANRRS Gold Scholarship Program is a competitively based scholarship for high-performing graduating high school seniors. 20 students will be selected to participate in this program.

Inspired Leadership Service Award by Hormel Foods

Amount: $3,000

Hormel Foods is a proud supporter of MANRRS and is pleased to provide two $3,000 scholarships for MANRRS members (one for Jr. MANRRS member and one for a collegiate MANRRS member). The scholarships are for students who plan to major or are majoring in any of the following areas: accounting/finance/tax, business, food science, marketing/sales, hotel/hospitality, engineering, communications, or any agriculture-based major.

MANRRS Veterinary Scholarship Powered by Merck

Amount: $5,000

Merck Animal Health is providing scholarship funds to be awarded to seven recipients. This scholarship opportunity is available to all 2nd and 3rd-year veterinary students who are enrolled in the veterinary medical program.
