Position description:

This is responsible, supervisory, and participatory work related to facilitating and implementing environmental education programs. Work includes developing programs and events, volunteer coordination, community outreach, creating interpretive signage, activities, and curricular, communicating with the public, overseeing the work of assigned staff, participation in the training, safety, appraisal, and discipline of assigned employees, and requires the exercise of some independent judgement in initiating and carrying out assignments.  Work hours will vary, based on rentals and programs, to include nights and weekends.

minimum qualifications:
  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Successfully meet the State of Florida Level II background screening standards (Florida State Statutes 435.01-435.06).
  • Have knowledge of ecological concepts and experience in facilitating programming, and direct public contact.
  • Have some supervisory experience.
  • Have comprehensive oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
desired qualifications:
  • Possess a valid Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in Environmental Science, Environmental Education, Natural Resources or related field.
  • Possess two or more years of supervisor experience.
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Oracle, ActiveNet registration software, and Kronos timekeeper software.
  • Have strong leadership skills.
  • Have National Association for Interpretation or Project WILD certification.
