Position Title:

Parks and Trails Associate / Building and grounds workers

Responsibilities:

Buildings and Grounds Worker

Responsible for:

  • Building cleaning and repair
  • State park, state trail and public water access maintenance and repair
  • Grounds maintenance such as mowing, brushing, trail work, and dock installation and maintenance
  • Basic equipment maintenance
  • Park security (in some locations)

Important skills for buildings and grounds staff include skills in safe operation of equipment, ability to effectively recognize and solve problems, being a team player, ability to explain policies and procedures clearly and professionally to internal and external customers, and being welcoming to a diverse visitor base.

Parks and Trails Associate

Responsible for:

  • Selling permits
  • Organizing reservations
  • Providing information to the public  
  • Cleaning
  • Park security (in some locations)

Important skills for parks and trails associates include being a team player, skills in customer service that make a diverse visitor base feel welcome, ability to operate point of sale systems and the ability to manage work tasks effectively and skills to interpret program information and explain to customers, clients and coworkers.


minimum qualifications :
  • Must be at least 18 years old

additional requirements:

This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver’s license with a clear driving record.
