Michigan State University Seeks Farm Business Educator (2 Positions Open!)
Position Title: 

Business Manager Educator

 

Position Summary:
MSU Extension (MSUE) is looking to fill two farm business management
positions. One position will be located near Traverse City. The other position will be located in the “thumb” area of Michigan. As part of the Agriculture and Agribusiness Institute (AABI), this position provides leadership regarding Farm Business Management with emphasis on whole farm financial analysis.

In this position, you will identify, design, implement and evaluate programs that meet outreach needs, with an emphasis on farm business analysis, business transition, income tax education, and general farm business topics. You will work with farm businesses on farm and enterprise analysis and determine farm profitability. You will contribute to the MSU TelFarm program to enhance the program’s viability and help farms complete benchmarking analysis. You will also work with farms to understand the return on investment of new technologies and support programming regarding farm transition and succession.

Through collaboration in research, engagement with the community, and dissemination of research through various methods, including in-person and multimedia programming and written communications, you will implement programs that lead to public knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that improve farm business concepts. You will also develop, produce, and deliver outreach with messaging and content that is accessible, inclusive and is consistent with AABI messaging.

Antrim County Farm Business Management Educator
Although negotiable, there will be space available for this position to work from the Antrim County MSUE office, near Traverse City. This area is home to much of Michigan’s cherry industry and is also known for apple and wine grape production, along with traditional row crop and livestock farms, with many progressive farmers in the region. This area has great outdoors and cultural activities.

“Thumb” Farm Business Management Educator
Although negotiable, there will be space available for this position to work from the Saginaw Valley Research and Extension Center, Frankenmuth, Michigan, or other county MSUE offices in the “Thumb” region. This area is a leading row crop and dairy production region within Michigan that has great outdoors and cultural activities
 
 
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in farm business management or related field, with an expectation to complete a Master’s degree within a specified time frame; or Master’s degree in farm business management or related field.
