Position description:
The Program Manager will work in a close, creative relationship with the Executive Director to manage and expand the services and programs that Women in Ranching (WIR) offers. The work is rooted in relationships and requires an orientation to build equity and center multicultural community space. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter, a systems-thinker, communicating well across generations, cultures and a variety of knowledge and skill-bases, while having a grounded understanding of rural, agricultural communities.
 
POSITION DUTIES:
The Program Manager’s duties include, but are by no means limited to the following:

●    Program Planning, Design, Development: 
○    Effective design and implementation of community visions into new and existing programs and services 
○    Work with team to develop annual program calendar 
○    Lead event planning for both in-person and virtual programs
 
●    Program Evaluation: 
○    Identify community needs, recognize gaps in services, and provide recommendations for programmatic shifts or development
○    Secure input from community and staff to build evaluation tools and metrics to support program outcome and feedback loop

●    Supervision: 
       ○    Skillfully manage team of 5+ contractors including: lead meetings, collaborate with team, provide straightforward feedback during and post events 
       ○    Develop policies and procedure to streamline work with contract team

●    Relationships: 
       ○    Assist ED in building professional relationships and partnerships 
       ○    Well developed facilitation and management skills are critical to this position
       ○    Ability to work with all demographics of contractors, hosts and participants
       ○    Well-versed in managing conflict, sitting in discomfort and working across differences
       ○    Desire to work in close, collaborative relationship with WIR team and rural ranchers

●    Fundraising: 
       ○    Develop, coordinate and report on programs, services, curriculum development and potential grants. 
       ○    Search for additional grant opportunities and assist with applications as needed

●    Communications: 
       ○    Communicate program impacts, challenges and potential growth points 
       ○    Work in close creative partnership with Communication Manager

Qualifications/requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

●    Hands-on knowledge of animal agriculture and land stewardship
●    Keen interest and understanding of gender issues in agriculture
●    Ability to travel to gatherings, conferences and trainings as needed
●    Self-driven, self-starter, highly developed organizational skills
●    Familiarity with computer technology and willingness to learn new software
●    Desire and capacity to work with minimal supervision
●    At least 3-5 years in successful supervisory management of teams
●    Developing and managing budgets and programmatic visions
●    Grant writing experience and fundraising skills
●    Strong desire to create systems and processes for all programmatic work
●    Relationship driven and centered in multicultural community development
●    Ability to travel up to 30 days per year

Desired Qualifications

●    Knowledge and skill in communications to help market programs and services 
●    Multilingual in Spanish or Native languages
●    Direct lived experience in ranching or other agricultural work
