Posted on October 15, 2021

Position Title:

Project Manager, Water Program
Position Summary:
The Water Project Manager will help build out the Strategic Restoration portfolio of work.
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global conservation organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. Guided by science, our teams create innovative, on-the-ground solutions to our world's toughest challenges so that nature and people can thrive together. See Who We Are here for more information.
We are searching for a Project Manager to join TNC California’s Water Program, a matrixed and multidisciplinary team focused on conserving natural ecosystems while advancing a resilient and sustainable water future for California. A primary focus of this position is to advance our Strategic Restoration strategy, which aims to restore and protect arid habitat for rare and endangered species in the San Joaquin Valley, particularly on lands that are transitioning out of agriculture as part of regional efforts to reduce groundwater overdraft.
The Water Project Manager will help build out the Strategic Restoration portfolio of work by 1) leading internal analyses to assess acquisitions and investments that would catalyze San Joaquin upland species recovery and, in some cases, low environmental impact solar energy development, 2) identifying and evaluating potential acquisition and project sites, 3) coordinating closely with external partners to implement projects and explore emerging opportunities, 4) managing the development of restoration plans for project sites, and 5) identifying and pursuing relevant public and private funding to
implement San Joaquin upland habitat restoration projects.
The location for this position is negotiable between Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley in California. This role requires frequent, in-person presence at project sites in the San Joaquin Valley, Covid-19 safety protocols permitting. Candidates not based in the San Joaquin Valley should be prepared to travel up to 50% of the time. We encourage you to explore the many great reasons to join our team, including our comprehensive benefits package.
