Position Overview: 
Field to Market seeks a Sustainability Projects Manager that will oversee the implementation and evaluation of Field to Market’s Continuous Improvement Accelerator supply chain sustainability program, working with supply chain actors and growers to document and demonstrate continuous improvement in the sustainability of commodity crop production. This role provides direct support to Fieldprint Projects and Fieldprint Platform end-users, operationalizes Field to Market’s process-based standard, and drives growth and efficiency of the Accelerator Program at large. Pending a final grant award, this position will commit time to supporting projects connected with Field to Market’s USDA Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities grant.

Pending a final grant award, this position will commit time to supporting projects connected with Field to Market’s USDA Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities grant.

The position is based out of Washington, D.C. and will report to the Vice President of Science and Technology. Field to Market offers a generous telework policy for local employees. Fully remote accommodations will be considered for the right candidate, with the candidate working Eastern time zone work hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary internal and external focal point for Field to Market continuous improvement projects (“Fieldprint Projects”). This includes responsibility for project registration, reporting, tracking, evaluation, support, and overall implementation success.
  • Provide support to new and active projects on goal setting, evaluation of outcomes, guidance on practice adoption, development of project partnerships, support materials and educational resources.
  • Maintain proactive engagement with external project sponsors, administrators, and partners to ensure active Fieldprint Projects have up-to-date registrations and complete reporting requirements. Ensure the public facing project directory is accurate and up to date.
  • Develop expertise in the use of, as well as provide support for, Field to Market’s Fieldprint Platform and Field to Market’s eight sustainability metrics. Routinely give tailored Fieldprint Platform demonstrations, trainings, or other presentations to end-users, including prospective members.
  • Continuously gather Fieldprint Platform end-user feedback and insights to support Platform enhancements and metric development. Engage with scientific and technical staff on requirements and testing of new enhancements.
  • Provide periodic and ad hoc programmatic reporting to Field to Market’s General Assembly, Board of Directors, and donors on project progress, findings, and needs. 
  • Work with project sponsors to review and refine sustainability reports, ensuring adherence to Field to Market standards by working with internal and external data analysts to perform quality checks on reported data or outcomes.
  • Work in various capacities (based on expertise) alongside science and technical staff on a variety of initiatives such as implementation of new crops, metrics revisions, and scoping new Platform features.
  • Assist with grant management and reporting where grant funding supports the Accelerator Program.
  • Assist with the development of communications and education materials required to support projects and end-users.
  • In coordination with other staff, write or contribute to articles and/or case studies for Field to Market’s website and membership newsletters. 
  • Represent Field to market at tradeshows, conferences, and speaking events. 
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

 
 
 
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental studies/science, sustainability, conservation or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Possess strong experience in stakeholder relationship management to include farmers, agronomists, conservation experts, and industry partners
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local conservation technical and financial assistance programs (e.g. Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Regional Conservation Partnership Program, Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of agriculture, agronomy, sustainability and/or environmental science sufficient to engage project partners seeking guidance on continuous improvement.  
  • Ability to collect, analyze, synthesize, and report on data using Excel or other analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with GHG accounting protocols, standards, methods and tools, agricultural conservation practices, geographic information systems, and verification approaches is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritize, establish and meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks and priorities. 
  • Responsive to both internal and member needs in a timely, professional manner. 
  • A proactive self-starter that can work as part of a team as well as independently when needed. 
  • Provide timely, clear, and complete feedback and follow-up to team leads, supervisors, and other staff.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling of inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.   
  • This position may require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel required: up to 15%. Travel and other work-related assignments may include evenings and weekends.

Compensation

This is a full-time exempt position. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience starting at $75,000. Field to Market offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401k match and generous paid leave.
