Overview:

FMC Global Regulatory Sciences is looking for a candidate to lead our Ecotoxicology Team at our Global Research Center in Newark, Delaware, USA. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing team priorities, advising registration and business teams on issues, and engaging in critical assessments as a technical expert.  This position reports to the Senior Manager of Environmental Sciences.


Responsibilities:
  • Lead of ecotoxicology group
  • Mentoring scientific staff in Environmental sciences
  • Provide leadership of environmental risk assessment on a global basis
  • Act as project leader within regulatory sciences group as required
  • Understand legislative and regulatory initiatives that shape the regulatory environment for the industry, gather formal and informal data, recommend in advance of competitive pressure, and influence outcomes to enhance our competitive position
  • Actively influence external science, including publications and science-related arenas, related to ecotoxicology and leverage that influence to benefit FMC
  • Assist in preparation of budgets
  • Participate in and lead regulatory and trade association activities
  • Represent ecotoxicology and/or regulatory sciences as a member of multiple teams
  • Provide excellent judgment with respect to the strategic design of research programs in order to assure regulatory requirements are fully considered
  • Prioritize and develop scientific strategy in regulatory science across the team in support of FMC’s portfolio
  • Collaborate with the Global Regulatory Science management team to make judicious decisions on resource and priority

 

Required Education:
  • Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology or relevant field of study; plus, a minimum of 5 years in regulatory sciences for agrochemicals; or
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Toxicology or relevant field of study; plus, a minimum of 10 years in regulatory sciences for agrochemicals

 

Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of global pesticide registration guidelines and data requirements
  • Prior industrial or regulatory experience and a broad understanding of the global agricultural chemical market
  • Advanced understanding of ecology, environmental toxicology, and chemical fate
  • Prior managerial experience is preferred
  • Experience with business travel-up to 15%, including international travel.
