Program Specialist
Position Summary
The North Central Integrated Pest Management Center (NCIPMC) seeks to hire a motivated, dynamic Program Specialist position to advance the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion within the center. The NCIPMC works within the north central region of the U.S. to support and promote the responsible management of pest problems (insects, plant diseases, weeds, etc.) to protect plants, humans and environmental health.
Reporting to the Director of the NCIPMC, the Program Specialist will be responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic vision and initiatives that demonstrate NCIPMC’s commitment to designing and leading innovative DEI-related programs. These efforts will broaden access to IPM-related training and promote supportive research environments for all, particularly scientists from historically minoritized, marginalized and excluded backgrounds.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the IPM community in the north central region and with external key constituents and partners to foster a community in which individuals from all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and national backgrounds are welcome, and in which people of all gender identities/expressions, sexual orientations, religions, political affiliations, ages, and abilities can flourish.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of diversity issues with a demonstrated clear understanding of the importance of a diverse and inclusive environment
- A demonstrated track record of advancing DEI (including through volunteering or students activities)
- Experience with implementing a strategic vision and portfolio of robust programs in DEI
