Position Title
 

Working with the MSU Center for Regenerative Agriculture, this position will develop Extension programming and support applied research to increase the adoption of cropping and livestock system practices and regenerative agriculture principles that enhance farm resilience and reduce environmental impacts by improving soil health and enhancing ecosystem services in a manner that is cost-effective for the agricultural community.

This can include advanced livestock grazing and pasture management systems, integration of livestock grazing into cropping systems, diversified crop rotations, cover crops, changes in tillage practices, advanced soil fertility management, and the inclusion of agricultural conservation practices into farming systems. Use a broad array of communication strategies, such as, in-person and virtual meetings, social media outreach, digital release of educational materials, and on-farm consultations, and work in collaboration with work teams, and partner groups, including the director(s) of the Center for Regenerative Agriculture, scientists at MSU, and the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station.

Work directly with the Center for Regenerative Agriculture to lead the educational deliverables of multiple grant-funded projects. Participate in collaborative, applied research projects and/or demonstrations, on-farm projects, deliver formal and non-formal workshops and trainings, and provide leadership in the communication of the results to stakeholders. Work will be complementary to ongoing and applied research and demonstrations related to regenerative agriculture and soil health.

Although negotiable, there is office space available for this position to work from the Missaukee County MSU Extension Office, and additional collaborative efforts at the Lake City Research Center, both of which are located in Lake City, Michigan.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to animal science, soil science, agronomy, horticulture, or crop science, with knowledge of regenerative agriculture systems, including the integration of livestock into cropping systems, or related field must be earned by date of hire.
