POSITION SUMMARY:
The Southern High Plains Grassland Specialist (SHP Grassland Specialist) will work with a small team to implement the Southern High Plains Initiative. The initiative is designed to model a collaborative approach for protecting large, interconnected blocks of high-quality grasslands by working with producers to rapidly scale up adoption of long-term, voluntary conservation practices.
The SHP Grassland Specialist provide producers with outreach, support for conservation planning, and targeted financial incentives and the in the Smoky Hill River Basin of western Kansas.
The ideal candidate will have experience with range management, the Farm Bill, project management, and a BA/ BS in a relevant field and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Location: Smoky Valley Ranch in Logan County, KS
Salary range: $53,000 - $63,000
Term: Full-time, three-year position
