Position Title:
Master Gardener and Community Horticulture Outreach Program Coordinator
Position Summary:
Oregon State University and the Extension Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources Program invite applications for a Master Gardener and Community Horticulture Outreach Program Coordinator position based at the Deschutes County Extension Service office in Redmond, OR. This is a 12-month, F/T, professional faculty position.
This Master Gardener and Community Horticulture coordinator embeds the commitment of a collaborative and inclusive community in all interactions and duties performed. This individual ensures that educational programs and outreach activities serve diverse populations, including those that have been historically marginalized/excluded from participation; and contributes to a welcoming and respectful workplace culture.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Education, Biology, Natural Resources,
Horticulture, or closely related field. Degree must be completed by application date.
· Demonstrated written and oral communication skills including the effective use of
electronic (traditional and web-based) media.
· Must have or be able to obtain an Oregon Department of Agriculture Pesticide
Consultant License within six months of employment and maintain it throughout
employment.
· A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion.
· Demonstrated ability to use or learn common computer software programs, including
proficiency with information technology, web sites, databases and social media.
· Ability to lead groups, create partnerships, and to plan, organize, evaluate, manage,
and delegate details associated with program management.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
