Position Summary:
The Division of Extension and Engagement – Jackson County is seeking an Agricultural Master Gardener & Home Horticulture Coordinator. This is a full-time 1.00FTE, 12-month, professional faculty position. The anticipated starting salary for this position is in the range of $54,000 - $60,000, commensurate with education, training, and experience.
This Master Gardener Coordinator position is based at the Oregon State University Southern Oregon Research & Extension Center (SOREC) in Central Point, Oregon. The position is affiliated with the OSU Department of Horticulture in the College of Agricultural Sciences. This position reports to the Regional Director assigned to the Southern region in which the position is based. Decisions regarding this position are made in consultation with the supervision team which includes the Extension Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources Program Leader.

This position contributes to the mission of the College of Agricultural Sciences, with principal responsibility for needs assessment, Extension program development, delivery, and evaluation, and for conducting applied research to support Extension activities.
 
This Master Gardener Coordinator serves as the local expert for gardeners in the Rogue River Valley and across Jackson County, and is expected to grow expertise in regionally- relevant gardening topics, such as waterwise gardening or regionally relevant plant materials. This individual provides leadership for the Jackson County Master Gardener volunteer program. In this role this individual
  • oversees volunteer recruitment, training and retention
  • organizes volunteer middle managers
  • and collaborates with the local Master Gardener Association. The individual is also expected to develop community horticulture classes for the general public and use the most appropriate tools to reach all audiences.

Active and effective communication with colleagues and key stakeholders is critical to the success of this position. This position will require traveling.
