Position Summary:
Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) invites applications for a Lecturer in Animal Science. This is a nine-month appointment, with 100% teaching responsibilities. Candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized teaching program in livestock management, physiology, breeding and/or genetics, behavior, and/or health and well-being. Will be expected to develop and maintain close-working relationships with food-animal industry stakeholders, coordinate departmental recruiting and youth outreach efforts, and teach introductory animal science courses and laboratories, along with additional undergraduate courses related to their area of expertise in the Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Technology (ASVT). Competitive negotiable salary and benefit package commensurate with the candidate’s level of expertise. Availability for employment by spring 2023 semester is expected.
Applicants must have at least an M.S. degree in Animal Science or a closely related field from an accredited university. Evidence of successful teaching, research, and/or experience in livestock production management, with emphasis in nutrition, physiology, behavior, animal well-being, breeding, genetics, reproduction, animal health, or related livestock areas are preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Candidates should have evidence of scholarly achievement in teaching and research. Other requirements include a commitment to high standards of academic professionalism and a positive attitude. Experience leading an intercollegiate judging program is preferred.
 
 
The ASVT at TAMUK is an integral part of the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In addition to awarding a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science (emphases in General Animal Science, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, and Animal-Wildlife Veterinary Technology), and a Master of Science degree in Animal Science, ASVT is home to the only four-year accredited Veterinary Technology program in Texas and the renowned King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management. The Department of ASVT is the largest academic department on the picturesque campus of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, with 13 faculty, 14 graduate and approximately 470 undergraduate students.
