Position Overview: 
The Department of Nutrition in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis is recruiting an Academic Administrator with an emphasis in Nutrition and Health Equity. This is a fiscal year (12-month) position. This position serves as Director of the CalFresh Healthy Living (CFHL) Nutrition and Health Equity Initiative. This position is a collaboration between the UC Davis Nutrition Department and CFHL, UC which is related to the teaching, scholarship, and public service mission of the University. The Director will work directly with the CFHL, UC State Office and provide cross-organizational management and leadership, overseeing complex program relationships with all CFHL statewide implementing agencies, UC Cooperative Extension, contracted community-based organizations across the state, assigned staff, and partnering academics with a substantial amount of independence. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership for programmatic development and evaluation of health equity aspects within the CFHL program, content and impact.
 
Responsibilities:
Expected responsibilities include administration, teaching, scholarship, outreach, and service.
Administration/Management of Programs (70% FTE): The appointee will provide intellectual leadership and management of CFHL Health Equity Initiative resources in the roles of administrator and supervisor. They will oversee program planning, development, and evaluation
reporting to federal and state agencies
supervision of staff, and development of proposals for extramural funding.
Professional Competence/Activity (20% FTE): The appointee will demonstrate continuing professional growth and activity in their scholarly discipline (such as health equity, public health, community nutrition). They will provide intellectual leadership and participate in relevant professional societies and conferences.
University/Public Service (10% FTE): Participation in and governance of the CFHL Health Equity Program, performance of departmental and university service, and service in a liaison capacity with other public and private agencies is expected.
 
Qualifications:
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in nutrition, public health or closely related field, with expertise in nutrition and health equity is required. Minimum of ten years of work or post-doctoral experience is preferred and experience managing public health programs, with a focus on nutrition education and physical activity. Evidence of leadership and administrative skills relevant to the independent management and direction of a complex program involving relationships between UC, statewide agencies and community-based organizations is expected. The candidate should have the ability to lead program planning, development and evaluation activities and have extensive knowledge and experience of federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) guidelines.
 
Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
