Position Summary:

 

The Department of Plant Pathology in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology, with an emphasis in virology. This is an academic year (9-month), tenure track, Assistant Professor position that includes translational research and outreach relevant to the mission of the California Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) (https://caes.ucdavis.edu/research/aes). Applicants' track record of engagement and activity related to diversity, equal opportunity, and inclusion as well as their plans for future engagement will be a significant part of the overall evaluation of the candidate's qualifications for a faculty appointment.
 
The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, productive and competitively funded research program in fundamental and/or applied plant virology. The appointee will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate level in courses supporting the Global Disease Biology major (https://gdb.ucdavis.edu/), and at the graduate level in virology supporting the graduate program in Plant Pathology (https://plantpathology.ucdavis.edu/). Mentoring of graduate students, undergraduate student advising, curricular development, participation in and development of outreach programs, and performance of departmental and university service is expected.
