UC Riverside Seeks Assistant Professor of Extension (IPM of Subtropical Fruit Crops)
Position Title: 
Assistant Professor of Extension - Integrated Pest Management of Subtropical Fruit Crops

 

Position Summary:
The Department of Entomology at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Extension (Assistant Specialist in Cooperative Extension) in integrated management of arthropods attacking citrus, avocado, and other subtropical fruit crops. This is a fiscal year position available March 1, 2023 with an 80% Cooperative Extension/20% Organized Research appointment in the Agricultural Experiment Station (http://cnas.ucr.edu/about/aes/)

The successful candidate will develop an internationally recognized, extramurally funded basic and applied research program on the management of arthropod pests and vectors of plant pathogens in subtropical fruits. Cooperative extension (CE) responsibilities include the development and implementation of educational programs on pest management in subtropical fruit crops. The candidate’s work should align with the Endemic and Invasive Pests and Diseases Strategic Initiative (https://ucanr.edu/sites/StrategicInitiatives/), and include collaboration with other cooperative extension academics and engagement with relevant commodity boards.
 
 
Required Qualifications
 Ph.D. in Entomology, Biology, Pest Management, Applied Ecology, or a related discipline. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
 
Advancement through the Specialist in Cooperative Extension ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations that include substantial peer input.
