Position Summary
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group of scientists focused on developing innovations.
The USDA, ARS, Cell Wall Biology and Utilization Research Unit of the U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center in Madison, WI is seeking a permanent, full-time Research Plant Biologist/ Physiologist/Geneticist to develop an innovative research program focused on enhancing the value of alfalfa by improving protein availability, quality, and utilization in diary production
systems; identifying proteins, peptides or other bioactive compounds that may have nutritional or health benefits for ruminants, other animals, or humans; and developing methods for extracting and refining proteins and bioactive compounds for commercialization. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group of scientists focused on developing innovations in ruminant nutrition, animal and rumen microbial genomics, plant molecular biology/ biochemistry and microbiology to improve the nutritional value of forages and efficiency of dairy cows for enhanced production leading to more environmentally and economically sustainable dairy forage production systems.
