Position Summary
The USDA, ARS, U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center (USDFRC), Madison, WI is seeking a Research Agronomist/Plant Physiologist/Biologist. The incumbent utilizes sophisticated skills and knowledge of plant physiology, agronomy, and soil science to improve alfalfa management, with particular emphasis on developing strategies to reduce winterkill and improve persistence of alfalfa. In addition, the incumbent’s specific research objectives are to determine management and biotic and abiotic stress factors contributing to winterkill and poor persistence of alfalfa. Furthermore, the incumbent serves as a research team member for the DFRU and participates in a dynamic, team-based, and collaborative research program designed to address dairy forage nutrition goals and objectives among USDA, industry, and academic partners. The mission of the DFRU is to conduct basic and applied research to identify the mechanisms of, and interactions between, soil, forage, diet, the dairy animal, animal behavior, housing/environmental factors, and rumen/gut microbes that limit forage digestion and nutrient utilization.
 
Salary Range of $79,363.00 to $122,683.00 Per Year
