Zurich Seeks Applications for the 2023 Apprentice Program (Several Positions!)

Zurich North America’s Apprentice Program 

The first in our industry to be certified by the U.S. Department of Labor 
 

Zurich is accepting resumes for our 2023 Apprentice Program! The program is scheduled to start in August 2023, but please apply now for early consideration. 
 

Our innovative General Insurance Apprentice Program allows participants to simultaneously gain the education and the experience to launch a rewarding career as a Crop Claims Adjuster with Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS).  
 

Zurich’s initiative is to develop a new generation of workers to help the U.S. succeed in the 21st century economy.
 

This two-year program combines targeted online coursework at Northeast Iowa Community College and completion of the Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (CAPP) with relevant work rotations. Seeking candidates located within:

• West Texas (Potter, Randle, Oldham, Carson counties)
• North Idaho (Idaho, Lewis, Nez Pearc counties and surrounding areas
• Southeast Kansas (Sedgwick, Summer counties)
• Eastern Wisconsin (Oconto, Shawano, Waupaca, Outgamie and surrounding countries)
• Southern Minnesota (Stearns, Benton, Southern Morrison, and surrounding counties)
• Northwest Kansas (Sheridan, Decatur, Thomas, Graham, and surrounding counties)
• Northwestern Tennessee (Obion, Weakley, Henry, Gibson counties
• Southwestern North Dakota (Billings, Golden Valley, McKenzie, Stark or surrounding/neighboring counties)
• Northeast South Dakota (Brown, Spink, Faulk, Edmunds, McPherson counties).

In the one of the listed above areas Apprentices will support our Crop Claims teams in:

• Maintaining relationships with farmers to review policies, procedures, and claim adjustments 
• Adapting to changing priorities and scheduling conflicts 
• Serving customers in the agricultural community  
  

Apprentices who successfully complete this two-year program will: 

• Work in a full-time Crop Claims Adjuster position at RCIS 
• Earn a tuition-free Associate in Applied Science degree in Agriculture Business 
• Receive a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship 
• Earn CAPP certification and licensing 
• Possess credentials and skills for today’s ever-changing marketplace  
  

Basic Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent 
• Professional work experience not required 
• Must be enrolled and validated as college ready by the Northeast Iowa Community College. You will be redirected to the Northwest Iowa Community College if you do not meet this qualification. Please click here to contact the Admissions office 
• Reliable personal transportation and travel within territory 
  

RCIS Crop Adjuster Physical Requirements: 

• Walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles 
• Climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet 
• Lift 25 lbs to 50 lbs 
• Work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions 
  

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Interested in a career serving the agricultural community  
• 1 or more years of work experience and/or leadership role in student activities and/or significant voluntary community service 
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and work deadlines 
• Strong customer service skills 
• Collaboration and problem-solving skills 
• Ability to communicate with impact 
• High degree of self-discipline and focus 
• Attention to detail 
• Ability to collaborate and work successfully in a team environment 
• Intermediate computer skills, especially Excel  
• Ability to navigate learning and interactions in an online environment
