Completes, reviews, and helps coordinate accurate, timely, and useful financial, regulatory, internal, and other reporting. Assists in the development, updating, and monitoring of internal controls and reports.

Description/Job Summary

Completes, reviews, and helps coordinate accurate, timely, and useful financial, regulatory, internal, and other reporting. Assists in the development, updating, and monitoring of internal controls and reports.  Ensures accurate information for reporting and internal control purposes, through monitoring and maintaining accurate general ledger and loan system information. Coordinates day-to-day banking functions. Provides support for the ongoing performance and improvement of all accounting functions including general ledger, loan accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, reporting, and cash management. Comply with all AgCredit, ACA policies and manuals while maintaining regular and punctual attendance as expected of this position.

 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assists in preparing, documenting, and reviewing the quarterly and annual regulatory and financial reports.
  • Coordinates and assists in the preparation of periodic financial, management, and other reports of the general ledger and loan systems.
  • Coordinates and handles the general ledger input, maintenance, monitoring, reconciliation, and roll up to the financials and other reports.
  • Coordinates the preparation, documentation, and review of the designated monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and/or annual internal control and/or accounting system reconciliations.
  • Assists in the ideas for, development of, and maintenance of reports, including through Excel, SSRS, and Access.
  • Assist with management’s analysis of our portfolio, processes, and performance.
  • May assist with the performance of the Operations Departments payroll and tax functions.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining accounting and Operational manuals including but not limited to those related to internal controls, reconciliations, and reports.
  • Coordinates day-to-day cash management and banking reconciliations.
  • Coordinates the timely and accurate maintenance and reconcilement of the Asset Management System (fixed assets).
  • Assists with the Association’s Accounts Payable function as needed.
  • Coordinates the Association’s insurance needs and responds to insurance provider requests.
  • Cooperatively works with loan operations to learn and support the loan accounting functions.
  • Assists with the 100% Guaranteed Purchase program (Branch 92) including purchases, sales, and overall maintenance of the loan portfolio.
  • Coordinates the gathering of information and support for annual audits/reviews related to financial, internal controls, FCA, etc.
  • Contributes daily to providing quality customer service to internal and external customers, build positive team spirit, and develop quality working relationships between all team members.
  • Complete training programs as approved by AgCredit and assists with departmental and Association training as assigned.
  • Assists the Operations Department by performing other duties as needed and/or assigned by the CFO, COO and/or the Controller.

Required Skills

Able to work independently, possess time management skills, maintain confidentiality and interact effectively with a diverse group of people. 

Possesses personal computer skills including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Access and SSRS.

 

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business with a concentration in accounting or an associate’s degree in accounting, finance or business with at least two years of experience preferably in general ledger, loan accounting and/or general accounting.
 
 

Required Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of operations policies and procedures.

Perform moderately complex accounting duties and exhibits discretion, judgment and confidentiality on a daily basis. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate should be from the area of the open position or relocation may be necessary.

Agricultural background is desirable but not required.

 

Details

This position is located in our Administration Office in Fostoria, OH.


Office hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Mon - Fri (half hour lunch)


General office environment.


Reliable transportation is required.


Travel to/from other branch offices, associations, AgFirst or other facilities as deemed necessary.


Must be capable of overnight stays as necessary for training.
