Field Technicians

Position Summary
Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI) is a division of Michigan State University Extension that is actively involved with collection and maintenance of data about Michigan's rare biota and unique natural areas. We are currently hiring field technicians for the 2022 season.

Technicians will focus on surveys for birds and butterflies with target group/species depending on position and projects, but may include surveys for raptors, marsh birds, songbirds, and the federally endangered Mitchell's satyr butterfly. Field sampling will regularly require long hours and early morning and nighttime work schedules under adverse working conditions (e.g., long days in hot and humid weather, long and difficult hikes in wetlands, and abundant biting insects).

Start dates are flexible, we encourage applicants to specify their availability between March and September, as well as their ornithological and field work experience, in cover letters.

All applicants should submit their cover letter and resume/CV through the MSU Careers website, Job Number 748063
