Assistant Regional Director, Southeast Asia
Position Summary:

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - International market development non-profit based in Washington, D.C., is recruiting an assistant director to work in its Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia office. The assistant director will work closely with the regional director to plan, coordinate and execute the Council’s market development programs in the Southeast Asia and Oceana region. This includes but is not limited to marketing, trade servicing and government relations programs.
The Assistant Director will provide input in formulating a robust strategic plan for increasing sales of corn, barley, sorghum and their co-products in the region. Primary duties include developing and maintaining key ethanol industry contacts in the region and assessing opportunities for U.S. ethanol exports into Southeast Asia and Oceana. Work closely with regional director in developing and executing strategies and plans to identify and address all relevant trade, technical, and policy-related factors relevant to building and maintaining the market for U.S. feed grains and co-products including ethanol in the Southeast Asia region. Position is based in Malaysia, and local and international travel will be required after pandemic restrictions are lifted.
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree, with preference given to those with a degree in an agriculturally related field and/or international relations, marketing, business or economics. An advanced degree is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ professional experience. Must possess the ability to supervise programs, meet deadlines, develop and work within budget. Effective communication and ability to simultaneously organize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment within the context of a team are key components of the role.
