POSITION TITLE 
Field Forester
Position summary
The Virginia Department of Forestry is seeking a field forester in the VDOF Five Forks work area to provide professional forestry assistance and advice to Virginia’s forest landowners.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- forest management and protection including forest management plan development
- state and federal cost share program implementation
- conservation of the forest land base
- watershed and riparian forest management
- conservation education and outreach
- coordination with local governments, state agencies, conservation groups and citizens organizations
- forest health observation and management.
This position will prevent and suppress wildfires, inspect timber harvests, and enforce the seed tree, water quality, timber theft, and wildland fire laws.
Location: This forester position is part of the Five Forks work area serving Nottoway, Dinwiddie, Amelia, Powhatan, & Chesterfield. Within 6 months of hire, the incumbent must establish residency in Nottoway, Amelia, or SW Dinwiddie.
