Position summary

The Virginia Department of Forestry is seeking a field forester in the VDOF Five Forks work area to provide professional forestry assistance and advice to Virginia’s forest landowners.

 
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • forest management and protection including forest management plan development
  • state and federal cost share program implementation
  • conservation of the forest land base
  • watershed and riparian forest management
  • conservation education and outreach
  • coordination with local governments, state agencies, conservation groups and citizens organizations
  • forest health observation and management.
 
This position will prevent and suppress wildfires, inspect timber harvests, and enforce the seed tree, water quality, timber theft, and wildland fire laws.
 
Location: This forester position is part of the Five Forks work area serving Nottoway, Dinwiddie, Amelia, Powhatan, & Chesterfield. Within 6 months of hire, the incumbent must establish residency in Nottoway, Amelia, or SW Dinwiddie.
