Michigan State University Seeks Social Media & Marketing Educator

Position Summary:
As part of MSU Extension (MSUE) and the Health and Nutrition Institute
(HNI), this position provides leadership to ensure accessibility compliance for educational materials. It also provides content expertise and oversight of nutrition education and physical activity promotion through various social media platforms to reach limited resourced adults, youth, and families. This position will have statewide responsibilities and will collaborate across work teams, Institutes, and community groups, for advancement of clientele needs.
In this position, you will identify, design, implement and evaluate social media and marketing strategies in alignment with MSUE’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed), and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) goals. Through your leadership, you will build, manage, grow, and evaluate social media promotions and utilize accessible and inclusive channels to support SNAP-Ed and EFNEP objectives that lead to public knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that empower limited resource adults, families, and youth to gain knowledge about nutrition, increase their daily physical activity, and equitably increase their food and nutrition security.
This includes navigating social media and marketing trends, developing
original content, researching priority audience preferences, setting up data collection processes and metrics of success, and recommending creative ways to promote nutrition and physical activity education. You will also supervise SNAP-Ed and EFNEP staff responsible for content creation.
Through collaboration in research, engagement with the community, and dissemination of research through various methods, you will ensure accessibility with HNI materials including videos, presentations, printed materials, and language translation options. You will recommend solutions to maintain equal access to all users to establish an inclusive participant experience. You will remain engaged in emerging accessibility standards and integrate into current applications. Your work will include collaboration with MSU colleagues, as well as a diverse network of partner groups.
Although negotiable, there will be space available for this position to work from MSU’s campus in East Lansing, Michigan, or at a county MSUE office to be determined.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree related to digital marketing, educational technology,
human development, nutrition, psychology, sociology, or public health.
