Position Summary

UC ANR is hiring an Urban IPM Area Advisor Applied Research and Extension located at Kearney Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Parlier, CA. This position will serve Fresno, Madera, Tulare, and Kings Counties. For more information and how to apply, follow the link: https://apptrkr.com/3936397. The Area IPM Entomology Advisor will implement an innovative extension education and applied research program to address pest management issues facing agriculture. Research and extension will address high-priority issues related to ecologically and economically sound integrated pest management programs. Emphasis will be on interdisciplinary projects that affect perennial nut and fruit crops, such as, pistachio, almond, walnut, stonefruits, and grapes.

 
Qualifications 

A minimum of a Master's degree in entomology, pest management discipline or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. The advisor must have a broad understanding of IPM principles, including knowledge of crop production, cultural and biological controls, and pesticide use. Having the ability to work with clientele across a wide range of socio-economic classes and ethnicities is essential. The CE Advisor must possess or obtain within one year a Qualified Pesticide Applicator Certificate (QAC) or License (QAL) prior to applying or supervising the application of any pesticide.It is desirable for the candidate to have the ability to identify insects at the family level and be familiar with their life history. This is not a remote position.

Salary

The salary range for this Cooperative Extension Advisor position is Assistant Rank, Step I ($71,200) to Step VI ($94,000).
