UC Davis Seeks Academic Administrator (Maternal and Child Nutrition)
Position Title: 
Academic Administrator

 

Position Summary:
The Department of Nutrition in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis is recruiting an Academic Administrator with an emphasis in Maternal and Child Nutrition. This is a fiscal year (12-month) position. This position serves as Director of the UC Davis Human Lactation Center, a fully self-supporting center housed in the Department of Nutrition, and Director of the Maternal and Child Nutrition self-supporting departmental master’s degree program.
As Director of the master’s degree program, the individual will be expected to provide programmatic management, leadership, and vision as well as teach three of the courses. As Director of the Human Lactation Center, the successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded applied research, training, and outreach program focused on maternal and child nutrition, with emphases on human lactation and infant nutrition.
 
Responsibilities:
Expected responsibilities include administration, teaching, research, outreach, and service.
 
Administration/Management of Programs (55% FTE): The appointee will provide intellectual leadership and management of program resources in the roles of administrator and supervisor
they develop proposals for extramural funding and scholarly activities of the Lactation Center and are responsible for all facets of the graduate degree educational program and management of external accreditation efforts.
 
Professional Competence/Activity (40% FTE): The appointee will demonstrate continuing professional growth, teaching expertise and continued scholarly activity in their discipline. They will provide intellectual leadership and scholarship and participate in relevant professional societies and conferences.
 
University/Public Service (5% FTE): Participation in and development of outreach/engagement programs, and performance of departmental and university service is expected.
 
 
Qualifications: 
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in nutrition or closely related field, with expertise in maternal and child nutrition, and IBCLC certification is required. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Evidence of leadership, administrative skills, teaching, and research excellence is expected. The candidate should have the ability to develop and instruct graduate courses and the ability to develop and conduct extramurally funded research in maternal and child nutrition.
 
 
Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
