Position Title

Experiential Learning Coordinator/Academic Advisor

 Position Overview: 

Primary function of position provides educational program coordination and administrative support for experiential learning programs in the department of ACE and recruit, orient, and advise undergraduate students in the department of ACE.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with administration, faculty, and staff within the department, providing assistance and coordination in the preparation and development of domestic and international experiential learning program proposals related to international agribusiness, finance, environmental policy, and international development topics. Manage the implementation of these programs and monitor progress toward achieving objectives, including recruitment, budget development, and marketing. Coordinate logistics of such programs, including travel and hotel arrangements. The experiential learning programs include the International Business Immersion Programs, policy leadership courses, a job-shadowing program, an experiential learning certificate program, internship presentations, programs in partnership with other campus units, and occasional additional experiential study programs involving travel.

  • Recruit for the department’s experiential learning programs

  • Act as a liaison with faculty, external donors, and industry executives involved in these programs. Work closely with ACES Study Abroad on international programs.

  • Advise undergraduate students in key department concentrations regarding curriculum requirements, course selection, registration, and post-graduation plans. Assist students with study abroad planning, internships, and job shadowing experiences. Advise students enrolled in the ACE undergraduate minors.

  • Welcome and advise new students during the summer registration program, including transfer students, and assist with course selection and curriculum planning.

  • Teach up to two one-credit hour courses in career exploration and professional development.

 

Position Requirements and Qualifications

Education:

Required:
Bachelor's degree in agricultural economics, business, communications, or a related field

Preferred:
Master's degree in one of the fields mentioned previously or Higher Education or related fields.

 

Experience:

Required:

At least two years of work experience in agribusiness, international business, academic advising, teaching or similar fields. Administrative experience.

Preferred:

Experience arranging group travel. Experience with corporate and donor relations. Event planning experience. Experience with data reporting/management. International experience (work/internship, study, or living outside of the United States or its territories). Experience working in a university environment.

 

Knowledge Requirements:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility and strong problem-solving skills.

 

Environmental Demands:

Social Media and web skills.

 

SALARY AND APPOINTMENT DETAILS:

This is a full-time (100%, 12-month) Academic Professional appointment. Salary is commensurate with training and experience. Immigration sponsorship is not available.
